CWS Door Installation: The Sunrise Owner’s Guide

CWS door installation in Sunrise typically runs $890-$2,400 for a complete replacement, depending on series, impact rating, and whether the rough opening needs reframing. We stock CWS-compatible hardware and keep common frame sizes measured for Sunrise’s 1980s-era Inverrary and Sawgrass Estates openings on our trucks. Most CWS door replacements we quote in Sunrise are installed within one scheduled visit once the measured survey is approved.

Most homeowners discover a CWS door is failing when the sweep drags across the tile after a rain, or when the multipoint lock no longer draws the panel tight against the weatherstrip. In Sunrise’s flat, flood-prone lots, water that ponds against a threshold for even a few hours accelerates frame rot at the sill - something we see regularly in the Welleby and Plantation Acres-adjacent homes built before updated floodplain maps.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS manufactures several door series, and the part or installation approach differs by line. The CWS 3750 and CWS 4750 impact-rated entry systems use a reinforced aluminum frame with a thermal break; the CWS 2000 series is non-impact, often found in interior-facing or garage-access applications in Sunrise. The CWS Estate and CWS Estate Entrée lines carry heavier multipoint hardware and thicker door slabs, which changes hinge backset and strike placement.

To identify your series, check the hinge-side jamb for a stamped label or the edge of the door slab for a laser-etched code. If the label is worn, measure the slab thickness: 1-3/4 inches indicates impact-rated (3750/4750/Estate), while 1-3/8 inches typically signals the 2000 series. The OEM multipoint lock for CWS Estate units is a proprietary 45/92mm backset with a 16mm faceplate; aftermarket equivalents exist from Hoppe and Fuhr, but the latch spacing must match within 2mm or the strike misaligns. We carry both OEM and verified aftermarket options on our trucks, and we note the exact part number on your written quote before ordering.

Signs Your CWS Door Installation Is Failing

Signs Your CWS Door Installation Is Failing
  • The panel sticks or drags at the top corner. This usually means the hinge screws have backed out of the jamb in the humid expansion cycles common to Sunrise summers, or the frame has settled slightly after the slab absorbed moisture. Left unaddressed, the corner of the slab scrapes the head jamb and damages the finish.
  • Daylight visible between the weatherstrip and the slab. Compression-set weatherstrip loses its memory in Florida heat after 5-7 years. On CWS impact doors, this compromises the air seal and the pressure rating the unit was engineered for.
  • Water stains on the interior threshold or baseboard. In Sunrise’s low-lying areas, a failed sill pan or improperly bedded threshold lets capillary water migrate inward. We pull frames regularly where the sill was set directly on concrete without a bed of sealant - a detail the original installer skipped.
  • The multipoint lock handle turns but the bolts don’t retract fully. The gearbox inside the mortise mechanism strips after repeated operation against a misaligned keep. CWS Estate hardware uses a specific 92mm center-to-center handle spacing; a generic replacement won’t mount without drilling new holes.
  • Condensation between the glass lites on a CWS patio door. The insulated glass unit (IGU) seal has failed. On CWS sliding systems, the IGU is retained by a snap-in glazing bead; replacement requires removing the panel from the track, which on upper-floor Sunrise condos means planning the lift path before the sash leaves the frame.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Price Range in Sunrise
CWS entry door slab replacement (existing frame sound) $890-$1,450
CWS entry door + frame replacement, standard opening $1,650-$2,100
CWS impact-rated entry system, full replacement $1,850-$2,400
CWS sliding patio door, IGU replacement only $340-$580 per panel
CWS sliding patio door, full unit replacement $2,200-$3,800
Multipoint lock hardware replacement (parts + labor) $280-$520
Threshold / sill pan replacement $180-$340

The range reflects three variables: whether the rough opening is square (many Sunrise homes from the 1980s and 1990s are not), whether the replacement must match a homeowner association’s approved color and grid pattern, and whether the wall is block or frame construction. Block requires tapcon or wedge-anchor fastening with specific embedment depth; frame construction uses structural screws into the king stud. Every quote we write breaks out parts, labor, and any reframing separately. The price on the measured survey is the price on the invoice - Haven Clause 1. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation; manufacturer defects are handled per CWS’s own warranty terms.

There is one thing a CWS owner can safely check: open the door to 90 degrees and lift the handle side vertically. More than 1/8 inch of play means the hinge screws or the hinge barrel itself is worn. Tightening the screws with a proper driver is reasonable; stripping them with the wrong bit is not.

Everything else carries risk. A CWS impact door slab weighs 90-140 pounds depending on size and glass package; lifting it without proper support risks injury and frame damage. The multipoint lock mechanism is under spring tension - disassembly without a pinning kit can launch internal components. And any work that disturbs the weatherstrip or sill pan compromises the pressure rating the door was certified to; in Broward County, that rating matters for your windstorm inspection.

We do not recommend DIY replacement of a CWS door unit. The measured survey we provide shows exactly what the opening requires, and our crew arrives with the correct fasteners, shims, and sealant for your wall type. Call (754) 254-5294 to schedule yours.
